April 2010
Last month, I asked writers (and reluctant writers) the same three questions.
1. Why do you write?
2. What motivates and inspires you?
3. How do you overcome writer's block?
Nearly every day, I posted contributors' answers. Sometimes I posted website links, twitter accounts, and press accounts. Often, I added photo galleries. When I started the project, I thought it would be fun. I didn't realize how consuming it would be. I learned a great deal about each person, often spending several hours on each person's post.
When I started, I had hoped to present a diverse audience. I was somewhat successful, although my group was more Episcopalian than the general population, though one might forgive me since I am also Episcopalian. The group is also largely white and American. For next year, I would like to more geographical diversity.
I was successful at including people from different age groups. I also included people from different parts of the country. People responded from different backgrounds. Singers, writers, photographers, business owners, sports fans, and regular people answered the three questions.
Some other interesting things happened during the project. The person who started the responses, Grover Sanschagrin, moved to Mexico. I photographed the National Walk for Epilepsy and the benefit concert. Ina Herlihy (March 26) later won Student Journalist of the Year. So, in one month, I included the last two national Student Journalists of the Year. Henry Rome (March 19) is the other. Henry also gave the opening address at the JEA Portland event on April 15. I have also learned that Martha Tessmer will be featured on the Oprah Winfrey show April 30th, one month after I posted her responses. Martha will be respresenting Impact Teen Driving.
Looking forward to next March, when the Writing Quest resumes. Oh, and the project has a new name, courtesy of Janet Emma Garbe (March 29).
Please visit their sites and reply to their posts. Thank you to everyone who has participated.

I opine that to receive the mortgage loans from creditors you ought to have a firm reason. However, one time I've received a college loan, because I wanted to buy a bike.
