Below is the tenth in my 31 day series about writers; each day I feature a different writer and ask them the same three questions. Yesterday I featured Stephanie Wong. Today I feature Stephanie Riedel. The two Stephanies' paths have intersected on my blog; both have similar goals.
Stephanie is a "natural" new technology social media person. After Stephanie saw how I photographed the Dixon High School Girls Volleyball team last fall, she contacted me. (I have included a slide-show of some of my favorite abstract photos.)

Stephanie lives in Dixon, near Sacramento, and Stephanie knows many of the Dixon High families. Stephanie complimented me when she first contact me. (good start!), but she also asked me detailed questions, which was also important. She realized that I hadn't used artificial light. (I hadn't. I used a $1500 dollar 1.2 lens.) Stephanie also shared her work, and asked advice. She was genuinely interested....
I soon became interested in Stephanie. I began reading about her and her family on Facebook. I started reading her blog. I felt that I knew Stephanie, so I guess I did. Stephanie does many things that Grover Sanchagrin mentioned in his blog post that jump-started this project. She creates great content. She constantly writes about (and photographs) other people. She answers everyone's questions and she generates discussions by asking questions. And even though she promotes herself, she is not one of those Social ME ME Media people.
I find that I want to promote Stephanie, even though she might be "the competition." She is also competent. And likable. She is worth promoting.
Please enjoy her answers. Please support her effort to live a healthy life. And if you know Stephanie, please share comments here. The more you share and link to her site somewhere, the more you help her.
and now for the "second stephanie's" links and answers...
1. Why do you write? Do you agree ? 2. What motivates or inspires you? My photographs inspire me to shoot more and speak through them. I love a good quote and think that can go a long way to inspire myself and others. I’m sure some friends on Facebook or Twitter get sick of my quotes but I never do.) I’m inspired daily by other photographers who combine skill, passion and a love of people.
I'm not a "real writer" by any stretch of the imagination. I’m a mom, wife, blogger, photographer, friend and lover of life and people. I think in my head I'm always composing things to say. I definitely talk/chat with myself. I guess working from home with just my two dogs and cats, during the day, does tend to make myself a “self talker” . My dogs only perk up their ears when I’m talking and they never answer me back.) I have been blogging here ( http://momtoadiva.blogspot.com/) since March of 2005. I recently printed my blog out in book form and my kids have been pouring over it as they remember when they were little and milestones in their life. As a photographer I mostly share photos and little tidbits into my life and family life. Some days it almost felt like it was more therapy for me than anything. I worry sometimes that I'm being to "out there" emotionally and that people will think that. I let myself become vulnerable and for the most part people are always welcoming and connect with my words or photos. I think that as people the #1 thing we can do is show we are vulnerable and that’s a great characteristic to have. Also always laugh at yourself !!!
Once I got serious about photography I stopped blogging at the above blog and started another adventure. That’s when Stephanie Riedel Photography got started in April of 2008. I stopped writing as much and started posting photos and letting them speak for themselves. I think that certain photos can say MORE than words ever can.
My kids inspire me, people inspire me and the innocence and joy that little kids have inspires me. Right now I'm doing more blogging about a new project that I’m working on. http://www.stephsixmonths.blogspot.com/ and it’s been a journey for me to be so open and free with my weight loss. I have been trying to inspire others to take the same journey although it seems like some days it’s impossible to loose weight. When I get just one e-mail of support or a “Way to go” it makes me want to keep making smart health choices and live a healthy life.
3 How do you get past writer's block?
Sometimes when I have a concept in mind I take a few days to really think it through. Then I just sit down and let it free flow. I read it back to myself out loud to hear what it sounds like and if I’m really getting across what I’m trying to say. I’m not the most technical writer when it comes to tense or grammar. I have a few awesome friends who will help me edit if I need it. In this age of texting and online I sometimes get sloppy.
Thanks for letting me share a little bit of who I am Bryan !!! Your journey and friendship is always inspiring and I appreciate who you are !!!!

Good response in return of this question with solid arguments and describing the whole thing about that.
