Wizard of Oz at Oakland Paramount Theater

On December 30, 2011, our family attended the screening of The Wizard of Oz at the Oakland Paramount Theater. The Paramount was celebrating its 80th birthday. Watching the movie on a large screen was awesome. There was a live organ player before the movie. Many guests dressed as Dorothy, The Scarecrow and other characters. The movie still transcends generations and time.

We visited the theater several times the previous week for the Oakland Ballet Company's version of The Nutcracker. I took the photo after the final ballet performance. The marquee was changing while people were still inside.

 

Farley's East Coffee Shop Photography

My last name is not as common as my wife's last name. Her last name is Johnson. My last name is Farley. Many companies are named Johnson. Once company is even named Johnson and Johnson. 

Overkill if you ask me. 

There is a small coffee shop chain in the Bay Area called Farley's. This week the coffee shop is allowing us to post some photos and information for a fundraiser. I am only supplying photos. One of the parents works at the Oakland Museum is mounting the show.

I tried to choose a variety of photos that showed the diversity of our students, curriculum and activities. I have taken thousands of photos. Selecting eight photos is not easy, but I have found a few that will work.

Egoian Photo Portrait Delivery

My daughter and I visited the Oakland Montclair Farmers' Market today so that we could deliver portraits to the Egoian family. We have known the family for many years and consider the family our friends.

Tuesday is also the anniversary of their other son's death. Blake died in a car accident three years ago. At the market today, the Egoians brought Blake's senior photo. It was a beautiful tribute and one we hope is not replicated with Cole's new portraits.
