Portraits at Marin County Corte Madera Farmers Market

I enjoy shooting portraits, but I have my own method. I do not enjoy posing people, probably because I do not know how to pose people. At best, I tell people, "Go stand over there." Even during a portrait session, I become nervous or bored, so I try to find ways to relax the person I am photographing and tricks to motivate myself. This slideshow illustrates how I created some fun memories at a Marin County Farmer's Market in Corte Madera.

Auburn Media in Berkeley 2010

This week, while preparing for current assignments, I have also been collecting photo galleries for my new wordpress blog. Occasionally, the two projects intersect. 

One example is an ongoing assignment with The Beatitudes Society. Last summer I photographed Auburn Media's West Coast media training day with The Beatitudes Society members. Macky Alston, Senior Director, Auburn Media and Communications trains religious leaders to use media channels effectively. Macky is the rare trainer who reveal his failures as well as his successes. His humility is powerful. Yes he was on Oprah, and yeah, he did not do so well the first time.

According the to Auburn Media website, "Auburn equips bold and resilient leaders who can bridge religious divides, build community, pursue justice, and heal the world." The Beatitudes Society trains "emerging Christian leaders as they build a progressive network for justice, compassion and peace."

The Family Radio Who Cried Wolf

The last time Family Radio predicted the end of the world, I visited the world headquarters. Today, I am barely able to finish the post. 

Yesterday, my friend and I ate lunch next door at Yoshino's Sushi. I remembered that the end of the world was coming again, and I decided that I would stay home. If he is wrong, I do not need to photograph everyone. If he is right, I want to be home.

Here are photographs from last year's end of the world non-event. The more I think about the protest, I wonder why any of us attended.
